River Investigation

Today the 25th of May we went down to the river to test how badly polluted it is. We come up with some really good things to see if our river is clean our dirty. We also found some bugs which indicate how dirty our river is with a scale of one to ten. We also took some tests of the river and we will get them sent away to see how bad it is. I also took the temperature of the river and found it to be 10 degrees. We were testing the clarity and flora of the river and lots more. Our water testing kit was from horizons and we would like to thank them for lending it to us as it was a lot of help.

First Meeting

Today the 11th of May we had our first meeting for the river clean up. Our meeting was about our river project and how we are trying to clean it up and what we have to do to make that happen. We had a great discussion and i think it made us stop and think about this a lot more. Jess and Michael got in contact with Horizons and left a message on there machine require to the water pollution water level was. We are hoping that they will get back to us and tell us as appose to how we will clean the river up.
We are also going to leave a comment in the Taihape Times to tell everyone about the pollution and what will happen to the river if this does not get any better. This was a great meeting and am looking forward to the next one.

River Visit

Last Friday on the 4th of May we went to the river to see how dirty it was. As a result of this we found broken pipes that had lead to no where and also a old concreate building that we do not know what it was.
As due to much discusion Mrs Hansen had much to think that Byfords Redi-mix had poluted the river but in fact i have found that it is not true for they have a recycling reclaimer that recycles the concreate and turns it into builders mix which then gets sold to poeple.

Issue Decided?

Our Issue was Decided
We have finally decided our issue over a class debate. The issue that we will be discussing is the river pollution in Taihape. We had a very close debate as we were fighting over weather we should do the cinema, rubbish recycling or the river. We decided that the river would be the best option as if we were to do the cinema we would be caring more about our selfs than the enviroment. The reson we chose this subject is that we thought that it would be a good idea to clean up the river because in the next genaration the river will be polluted and our kids will not be able to swim in there ad also our kids, Kids will not be able to because it will be poluted from people just dumbing there rubish in the river.
